Heat oil in a pot over medium heat.

Add whole spices, star anise, ginger garlic paste, salt, chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder and cook for 1-2 minutes.

Then add chopped tomatoes, mince, yogurt, half brown onion, cook for 10-12 minutes or until mince changed its color.

Cover and cook for another 15 minutes, add chopped green masala, boiled masoor and give it a stir.

Boil rice with salt, bay leaf and black cumin till ¾ done.

In a deep pot, first put 1/3 rice, half mince then rice, then mince then left over rice, top with Kewra and color, remaining brown onion, ghee.

Cover and put on dum for 15 minutes.

Remove the lid and stir the rice.

Dish it out and top with fried cashew nuts, boiled eggs quarters.
