Ingredients
Ingredients For Rice:
  • 500 gm Rice
  • 2 tbsp Cumin seeds
  • ½ cup Ghee
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required
Ingredients For Karhi:
  • 125 gm Gram flour
  • 2 Onions
  • 250 gm Yogurt
  • 1 tbsp Chili powder
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as required
  • 2-3 Curry leaves
Ingredients For Pakora:
  • 250 gm Gram flour
  • 2 Onions
  • 4 Green chilies
  • ¼ bunch Coriander leaves
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp Coriander seeds
  • 1 tbsp Crushed red pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
Cooking Method
To Make Karhi:
  1. In a bowl, mix together yogurt, turmeric powder, chili powder, cumin powder and salt.
  2. Now add a little water, mix well, then add in 125 gm flour with a little more water.
  3. Heat little oil in a deep pot over medium heat.
  4. Saute onion for a few seconds or until soft.
  5. Now add the yogurt mixture.
  6. Stir and Cook on low flame until thickened.
  7. Now heat a little ghee, add ground cumin seeds and curry leaves in it.
  8. Pour tarka mixture on top of karhi.
To Make Pakoras:
  1. In a bowl, combine together chopped onion, coriander leaves and green chilies.
  2. Add crushed red pepper, cumin seeds, salt and gram flour and a little water.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Now fry fritter with the gram flour mixture.
  5. Remove pakoras from oil and Put all of them in karhi mixture.
  6. Remove from the heat and keep aside.
To Make Rice:
  1. Heat ghee in a pan over medhium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds, fry till brown.
  3. Add rice, salt to taste and water as required.
  4. Simmer on low flame till rice are tender.
  5. Delicious Karhi Chawal is ready to serve.
