Ingredients
- 1/2 kg prawns cleaned
- 1/2 kg rice
- 1 cup onion finely chopped
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup coriander leaves finely chopped
- 6 green chilies
- 2 to matoes finely chopped
- 4 tbsp brown onion
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1-1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp kewra essence
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp all spice
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- a pinch of Yellow food color
Cooking Method

Wash rice with few changes of water then soak for 30 minutes.

Boil soaked rice with 1 tbsp whole spices, salt and water.

Drain and keep aside.

Heat oil in a large griddle (tawa).

Fry chopped onion for 5 minutes or until light golden.

Add ginger garlic paste, tomatoes, salt, chili powder, turmeric, coriander and cumin seeds.

Fry well.
-
Now add prawns and cook on low heat for 15 minutes or until prawns are tender.

Add yogurt, green masala and all spice.

Cook for 5 minutes or until oil comes on top.

Add boiled rice, kewra and yellow color.

Leave it on dam for 10 minutes.

Mix well.

Prawns Tawa Biryani is ready now.

Serve hot.

Just a few queries, your recipe tell you to add 1 tablespoon of ‘All Spices’ but this is not in the list of ingredients neither is ‘green masala’, could you explain what these are please? Also what is meant by ‘leave on dam’ for 10 mins. I really would like to try the recipe! Many thanks
