Ingredients
  • 1 kg mutton
  • ½ kg yogurt
  • 1 cup clarified butter
  • 6 to 8 green chilies
  • 1 tbsp red chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp coriander seeds
  • 1 tbsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp crushed fennel seeds
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • Salt to taste
  • Few coals
For Garnishing:
  • Fresh coriander
  • Ginger slices
Cooking Method
  1. Heat clarified butter (desi ghein a pan over medium heat.
  2. Sauté 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste in it.
  3. When it turns golden brown, add mutton and cook 10-12 minutes or until it start changes its colour.
  4. Add plain yogurt, green chilies, red chili flakes, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, crushed fennel seeds, salt to taste and 2 glasses of water.
  5. Cover the lid and let it cook on low flame for 50 minutes or until meat is tender.
  6. Remove the lid and cook on high flame or until well cooked.
  7. Then place few pieces of coal on an aluminum sheet and place inside the cooking pot.
  8. Put on the lid and let it simmer for another 5 minutes.
  9. Remove coal and dish it out.
  10. Garnish with fresh coriander and ginger.
  11. Delicious Duhan Dahi Gosht is ready to serve.

Serve with naan, raita and green salad.

  1. I live in US and where I live is all Arab community and they have only lamb meat but it always smells even if I ask them to give me baby lamb. How can I get rid of that smell?
